Four days of the things that actually decide a western hunt, taught by guides who are in this country two hundred days a year.
We Got Tired of Teaching It Twice.
Every season we watched capable hunters lose animals to the same handful of things — glassing too fast, misreading a thermal, taking a shot from a position they had never practised. So we built a school around those things and stopped hoping people picked them up in camp.
The Academy runs out of our base camp at 9,200 feet. You sleep in a wall tent, you hike every day, and you leave with a written assessment of what you do well and what will cost you.
Six Modules, Four Days.
Reading Country
How basins hold animals through a day: thermals, bedding aspect, water, and the two hours either side of light that decide most hunts. Taught on the mountain, not on a whiteboard.
Glassing Discipline
Grid method, tripod work, and why most hunters quit a slope four minutes before the animal stands up. You will spend a full day behind glass and find things you would have walked past.
Wind & Approach
Reading thermal cycles, planning a stalk that survives a wind shift, and knowing when the right answer is to back out and come back tomorrow.
Field Marksmanship
Positional shooting off packs, tripods and terrain out to the range you will actually shoot. We build your personal maximum range and we hold you to it.
Field Care
Quartering, cooling, and packing an animal out whole and clean, including the part nobody films: the second trip in the dark.
Draw Strategy
Point systems, unit selection, and building a ten-year plan that puts you in good country most seasons instead of great country once.
Taught
On The Mountain.
There is no classroom. Every module is taught in the country it applies to, in the weather the day gives us. If a storm moves in on wind day, that is the lesson.
Dates.
Eight students per session, two instructors. We have never run one larger and we do not intend to.
$2,950 per student, all camp and instruction included. Academy graduates receive priority on cancelled hunt slots.
